St Ives to host Forties weekend

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,

How many were there going to St. Ives?

Well maybe, just maybe you'll find out if you come along to our next event, which is indeed, held in St Ives! This old nursery rhyme / riddle well predates anything you're likely to find at our vintage fairs, but some argue it was definitely written about the Huntingdonshire ancient market town. Saturday 7th February, Burgess Hall, Westwood Road, St Ives, PE27 6WU. 10am - 4pm.  Sign up to the Facebook Event Here!

Our 1940s themed day on Saturday 7th February, is part of a 1940s Dance and Music weekend organised in conjunction with Huntingdonshire District Council. Held at the suitably large Burgess Hall in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, the next vintage fair encompasses Ukulele taster and Dance taster workshops as well as 1940s re-enactments and performers, including the wonderful "Ain't Misbehaving" who will do a selection of soulful jazz and upbeat 1940s numbers to entertain the shopping crowd.
The doors to the vintage fair are open 10am – 4pm on 7th Febuary, and entrance is £1. Ukulele workshops take place throughout the day and are either 30 or 50 minutes. Pre-booking is essential by calling Jacquie on 01480 388514 or emailing Jacquie.lawrence@huntingdonshire.gov.uk. £4 per 30 minute session or £6 per 50 minute workshop.

Plus there’s an array of different Dance workshops taking place throughout the day. Take your pick learning from The Paebody, Jitterbug, Collegiate Shag and the Lindy Hop. All Dance classes are provided by Paul and Fae from Rug Cutters Lindyhop at just £6 per session, and places can be booked by emailing jacquie.lawrence@huntingdonshire.gov.uk or phone 01480 388514.

The Vintage Fair will showcase a variety of stalls, selling vintage homewares, clothing, kitchenalia, haberdashery, jewellery and accessories, craft items, vintage style cards and so much more, plus there'll be an array of colourful characters from the 1940s dotted about!
Across both the Friday and Saturday evenings, there will be a 1940s themed dance from 7pm to Midnight, with the Swing Commanders playing on Friday, and the Galaxy Big Band playing on the Saturday. Tickets for these events can be booked online at www.burgesshall.net or phone 01480 388500.
